ENHANCING HUMAN POTENTIAL
Nearly 2.5 billion people live on less than $2 a day. For one person in eight, hunger is a constant, potentially deadly companion. The Foundation's Soul Solution program and its partners are working together to create opportunities for people to lift themselves out of poverty and hunger through the concept of microfinance. Microfinance has been praised throughout the world as the key to producing a poverty-free world. Microfinance provides men and women small loans to establish small businesses, which they are using to provide better nutrition and more schooling for their children. The Mark Victor Hansen Foundation's financial partnerships will provide the support necessary to empower the world's poorest poor, with a goal to end world poverty by the year 2014!
EMPOWERING TODAY'S YOUTH
Young people today experience a complex transition between youth and adulthood. Striving to adhere to the foremost principles of leadership, the Foundation is fostering the next generation of leaders through its one-day youth leadership program, "WOW"-Within Our Wildest Dreams! "WOW" is a high-energy, fast-paced interactive seminar provided to high schools throughout the USA. Concepts include: moving through fear, writing a mission statement, turning dreams into reality, and providing techniques to empower these participants to become global thinkers and visionaries. This program also includes instruction through web-based seminars and a format to develop "WOW" clubs on campus.
BUILDING BRIDGES TO EDUCATION
The Mark Victor Hansen Foundation will address the growing needs of 860 million adults and 113 million children who are illiterate providing solutions to reduce the persistently high rate of illiteracy worldwide. The Foundation views literacy as a basic human right and integral to the solutions for poverty, access to health care, educating children, and human rights abuses. The Foundation's Bookmarks program provides a wide selection of programs and reading materials to cater to different developmental stages and individual interests, ease of access and professional guidance.
